Funeraria Aztlan Mortuary Service opened in February of 1999 in San Diego, CA by John Q. Rodriguez. In November of 2001, Mr. Rodriguez moved the business to its present location in La Mesa.

ABOUT THE OWNER AND DIRECTOR

Mr. Rodriguez’s vast experience in funeral services began in San Diego over 30 years ago. He studied for Funeral Director and Embalmer at the California College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles, where he graduated with honors.
His experience includes research methodologies, embalming, restorative art and mortuary administration.

Over the past several years, he has worked with the San Diego County Medical Examiners Office as Chief of the examination room, supervising and managing forensic embalmers. He has also lectured and taught Mortuary Science at several Mexican Autonomous Universities. He is an honorary professor at the University of Guadalajara. He wrote and published a book for embalming entitled “Guia Basica Para Embalsamar.”
